RAYMON D. JOHNSON entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the age of 79 years. Born in Hunt County, Texas to Claudie Raymond and Virgie Blankinship Johnson, he attended schools in Lone Oak, TX and graduated from Royce City High School, Royce City, TX.
After his service in the United States Air Force, he met and married his Sweetheart, Ann Moorman, on June 28, 1958 and moved to San Antonio in August 1958. With a great eye for detail, he retired from Kelly AFB in 1990 as a Quality Assurance Specialist after 33 years of service.
Raymon's interests included being a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas, Kelly #1131; The Scottish Rite of FreeMasonry, S.J., USA; Shriners International; and The Alzafar Shriners, where he was a charter member and past-president of the Mini-Wheels Unit. Driving his half-scale replica 1910 Model-T with the Mini Wheels gave him great joy at parades and competitions. He especially enjoyed participating in the Fiesta Flambeau and Poteet Strawberry Festival parades, where he loved to wave and interact with the crowds.
His love and devotion was not only to his family and friends, but also to animals of all kinds, with a special fondness for dogs and cats. Raymon was a car enthusiast, known for the care, upkeep and appearance of his family's Ford cars. As well, he took great pleasure in maintaining his yard and pool and was a general handyman, gifted in working with his eyes and hands. His sense of humor and East Texas sayings, as well as his laugh, funny stories, and gentle soul will be forever remembered.
Raymon is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ann Johnson; son Alan Johnson; daughter Teresa Dion and husband, Don; daughter Vanessa Johnson; brother Dwaine Johnson and wife, Pat; cousin Peggie Hooten; nephew Jeff Johnson and family; niece Karen Lamberson and family.
