

He was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 20, 1931 and was the eldest son of Ramon E. Garza and Guadalupe Robles Garza. He is survived by his wife, Adela Muniz Garza of Whitney, TX; his sister, Andrea Pflug of Beavercreek, OH; his children, Irene Garza DeVerna of Charlestown, RI; Rebecca Garza-Mattia of Derry, NH; Raymond Roger Garza of Haltom City, TX; Kathy Garza Sears of Plymouth, IN, and eight grandchildren, and many loving relatives.
He was a Korean War veteran where he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a retired Federal employee having served with the U.S. Department of Defense for 37 years. He began his Civil Service career at Kelly AFB, and continued with the U.S. Army Electronic Command in Okinawa, Japan, Rhode Island, and Ft. Hood, Texas.
He was actively involved in his church, youth and music ministries, and coached a variety of youth sports. He was an avid traveler who enjoyed fishing, sports, music, and spending time with his friends and family.
Visiting hours will be from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 13th at the Porter Loring North Funeral Home on 2102 N. Loop/1604 Loop East, San Antonio, TX. A Christian Funeral Service will be at the same location on Friday, April 14th at 9:30 a.m. A Military burial will be held at 11 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. A Christian Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 18th at 7 p.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Whitney, TX.
