Raymond E. Jowers Jr., known fondly as Raymond to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, in San Antonio, TX at the age of 82. Born on February 1, 1942, in Jackson, TN, Raymond was a man of honor, integrity, and boundless love for his family and country.
After graduating from Jackson High School in 1960, Raymond joined the United States Air Force where he served with distinction until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1984. His time in the military included two tours in Vietnam, where his bravery and leadership left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him. Following his military career, Raymond continued his life of service at the United States Post Office until 2004, where he was known for his diligence and warm, approachable nature.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Nereida Deras, and her husband, Joe; his sons, William and Larry Jowers, and their wives, Haydee and Margaret; his daughter, Rubie Jowers; and his grandchildren, Daniel, Diana, Patricia, Heather, Giovanna, Kaitlin, Colleen, Sabrina; and great-grandchildren, Matthew, Paige, Hazel, Kevin, Erik, Victoria, Jayden, Eva; and great-great-grandchildren, Alexander and Emilio. Raymond also leaves behind his cherished sister-in-law, Rosa, along with many other family members who were dear to him.
Among Raymond's greatest joys were the simple pleasures of life. He relished in the opportunity to dine out at his favorite restaurants and was always eager to explore new eateries. An avid fisherman, he found tranquility by the water, a pastime that provided not just relaxation but also an abundance of cherished memories with his family. Raymond's love for his dogs was unparalleled; they were his loyal companions and brought him immense comfort and happiness.
A man of routine, he could often be found unwinding in his recliner, a sanctuary where he reflected on the day's events and enjoyed the company of his loved ones. Road trips were another favorite activity, as they allowed him to experience the beauty and diversity of the country he had served so proudly.
Raymond's legacy is one of love, service, and dedication. His impact on the lives of those around him was profound, and he will be remembered for his quick wit, his generous spirit, and his unwavering support for his family and friends. The values he instilled in his children and the lessons he imparted will continue to guide them for generations to come.
Raymond's life was a journey marked by accomplishment, adventure, and above all, the love he shared with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
