

He graduated from Abernathy High School and attended Texas Tech University prior to entering the U.S. Army Air Corps on February 12, 1941. Raymond received his wings and became a fighter pilot, flying P-38's over North Africa. His service continued after WWII and into Korea where he worked for the Director of Statistical Services and as a Deputy Comptroller for the 417 EA Brigade. He retired from the Air Force August 31, 1961 as the Wing Comptroller for HQ 3565th NAVTRAWG at James Connally AFB in Waco, TX.
Raymond entered Civil Service October 1961 and worked in the Budget shop for HQ Air Training Command at Randolph AFB. He retired from Randolph AFB on January 9, 1981 with over 40 years of federal service.
Raymond was preceded in death by his son James, and his wife, Mary.
He is survived by his sons, Charles and wife Sharon; Mark and wife Robin; his three grandchildren, Susan, Alex and Samantha; his brothers, Vanoy, Mearl and Neil, their families, sister-in-law, Frances Karney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Society, the Alzheimer's Association of San Antonio, or the charity of choice.
