

Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Barbara; children Kevin and spouse Kimberly, and Mark; his grandchildren Olivia, Abby, and Jack; nieces Bette (Ben) Matthews, and Linda Scott; and nephews Danny (Sherry) Sadler, and Dwayne (Debbie) Sadler.
Ray is preceded in death by his sisters Vida Harrell, Elizabeth Tucker, Rosalie Tittle, and Margaret Farmer, and brothers Bethel and Herman Sadler.
Following his graduation from Isaac Litton High School in Nashville, Tennessee in 1950, Ray proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. Ray’s 22-year military service included assignments in the Philippines Florida, Germany, Texas, Greece, and Washington D.C. before his retirement in 1972 in San Antonio, Texas. Ray continued his government service as a civil service employee for the Air Force Services Agency. Following his retirement from civil service, he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Ray was an avid sports fan and followed the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Braves, and the Texas A&M Aggies, attending games as a season ticket holder for 40 years. During his active duty service, Ray played intramural fast-pitch softball during his assignments in Germany and Texas. During his retirement, Ray also coached Little League for his son, Mark, with the assistance of his son, Kevin. In addition to sports, his hobbies included travel, fishing, billiards, and maintaining his yard, which included caring for his various variety of flowers. Ray enjoyed the companionship of his dogs throughout the years.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 6pm-9pm at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 11:30am at the funeral home with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
