Raymond Patrick Smith, Jr.

Raymond Patrick Smith, Jr., age 77, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to Raymond Patrick Smith, Sr. and Helen Patricia Somers on December 8, 1944 in Los Angeles, California and was raised in nearby Santa Maria, California. He attended Santa Maria High School from 1959-1963. Soon after high school graduation, Raymond joined the Navy and served in Vietnam. From 1963-1967 he was a Navy Maintenance Engineer, and from 1984-1996 he proudly served as a Navy Recruiter in Fair Oaks, California.

Raymond had a great love of oldies music and Classic Car Shows. He had been actively participating in car shows for more than 40 years in places like Sacramento CA, Reno NV, and San Antonio TX. He was a member with the Alamo Car Club and West Coast Kustoms. He and Norma moved to San Antonio about 7 years ago to be near family. He brought joy to all those that knew him and he will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Norma C. Smith; son: Raymond Smith III and wife Angelica; step-children: Norma Campisi and husband Vincent, Ray Manglicmot, and Maryann Vishion and husband John; grandchildren: Noelle Moani Smith, Raymond Makaha Smith, Latanya Pitts and husband Michael, Lydia Newman and husband Gregory, Jo-Lyn Campisi, and Valerie Vishion; great-grandchildren: Alexander Freeman, Johnathan Pitts, Lauren Pitts, Jocelyn Campisi, Malini Krueger and Emery Lynn Newman.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm., on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary West (near Sea World), 1710 W. Loop 1604 N., San Antonio, TX 78251. One of Raymond’s classic cars will be on display during this visitation. In honor of Raymond, please feel free to drive your own classic car and park near his for the evening also!
