

We are saddened to announce the passing of Rebeca Galindo-Gonzalez on March 22, 2020 in San Antonio, TX from a ruptured brain aneurysm. Rebeca was born on October 1, 1950 in Mexico City to Luis Galindo and Concepción Gelista. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Iván. She came to the United States as a teenager working her way to earn a B.A. from UC Santa Cruz, CA and eventually earning a Master's degree of Education from University of San Francisco, CA. She taught citizenship classes through the Salinas Adult School, English as a Second Language through Hartnell College and served as a Spanish faculty at the Defense Language Institute first in Monterey, CA and then transferring to teaching in San Antonio, TX where she retired.
She was a lifelong learner an in her later years grew closer to Judaism. She loved people and she loved her life. She was dedicated docent at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in San Antonio and at her synagogue, Agudas Achim.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jaime; three daughters, Olivia, Shirley Ann and Nohemí; grandchildren, John, Yoheved, Anthony, Luna and Yissachar; brother, Ramón; and sister, Yadira; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
