Rebekah Lynn Watson, age 63, departed this earthly place on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 2:15 pm in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on February 25, 1958 at the Methodist Mission Home in San Antonio where she was adopted by Jimmy Charles and Madge Laurette Green. She was raised in Dallas, Texas where she attended Lake Highlands High School. She later attended North Texas State (UNT) and Texas Tech Universities.
For the grace of her natural mother and the love of her adoptive parents, Bekah was blessed with 63 years of full life, continuing a family of her own.
She is survived by her husband of forty years, John Charles Watson, Jr. “Chuck”; four children, John Charles Watson III “Charlie”, Jesse Ann Watson “Jess”, Madge Christina Watson “Madgie”, and Katherine Delores Watson “Katie”; and two grandchildren, John Charles Watson IV “Jack” and Nanesuko Jeanette Watson “Nesko”. Additional surviving members of a full and vibrant family include her adoptive brother, Mark Charles Green; niece, Heather Green, sister-in-law, Leah Delores Fenech (Paul); nephew, Paul Smyers (Shelley and son, Sebastion); mother, Madge Laurette Green; mother-In-Law, Delores T. Watson; and furry companions, Hank and Sam-I-Am.
Bekah's passing is preceded by her father, Jimmy Charles Green (2019) and her father-in-law, John Charles Watson, Sr. (2008).
Rebekah Lynn Green was an artist, a writer, a dramatist, and a woman second to none; a person who refused to walk a pace behind for the lone sake of propriety. Her professional calligraphy design work remains at institutions such as Banyan Creek Elementary in Florida where she was directly involved in the branding and expansion of the growing library there. She also was very active contributing her artwork to “Pause for PAWS” in San Antonio, Texas. Rebekah blessed her family and friends with writings, illustrations, letters, and thoughts straight from the heart. Thus is the canvas of her life.
For those who met her, it became impossible to forget her (it can be said she never met a stranger). For those who never experienced her orbit, it would be impossible to explain.
Rebekah will be cremated; a portion of her remains will be interred in the Columbarium at Coker United Methodist Church in San Antonio, TX; the remainder of her ashes will be scattered. COVID-19 safeties will dictate restricted participation on site for commitment. If so desired, participants may view the Commitment Service Livestream at www.Coker.org, Saturday May 08, 2021 at 10:00am.
In her own words Rebekah asked that upon her passing we should “ …dance and cry and laugh and exuberate in life. Celebrate my moving on to another fantastic dimension of experience. Know that I love you all and will miss you. Miss me only as long as you have to, and love others in memory of me.”
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Defense League of Texas:
