Rene V. Barrera, Sr.

Rene V. Barrera, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Nov. 24, 2015 in San Antonio, TX. Mr. Barrera was born on July 25th, 1937 in Alamo, TX to Mr. Eusebio & Leonarda V. Barrera. He is preceded in death by his parents Eusebio & Leonarda (Naya) V. Barrera; sister, Aurora (Bore) Ramos, and niece, Alicia (Penny) Cuellar and great niece, Venessa Salas.

Mr. Barrera joined the United States Air Force in 1956 and was a Disabled Veteran for 58 years. He married Guadalupe G. Garza on Sept. 6, 1956 and was happily married for 60 years. Mr. Barrera is survived by his wife, Guadalupe G. Barrera; brother, Ruben Barrera (Florinda); sister, Alicia Trevino (Pasqual); sons, Rene Barrera Jr. (Norma), Joel J. Barrera (Patty), Augustin E. Barrera; daughters, Cynthia B. Uresti, Leticia Barrera, Melissa B. Avila (Rene), Michelle B. Rodriquez (Mark); 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and, 9 nieces and nephews. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Uncle.

You will be truly missed but never forgotten. We love you Daddy and Grandpa.

Memorial Service will be 9:00 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2015 at Porter Loring Mortuary, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232. Military Honors to follow Memorial Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
