It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rene Martinez, beloved father, brother, and friend. On February 6, 2025, Rene passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter, forever etched in our hearts.
Born with a bright spirit and a warm smile, Rene was a man of unwavering love, emotion, work ethic, strength, humor, and wisdom. He was a lifelong enthusiast of memories and music but his children, Aricela Coker and Zachary Martinez, were his everything. With unwavering love and guidance, he celebrated his children’s achievements and their ambitions. He always remarked that Maria Martinez was the love of his life and the mother of his greatest joys. Together they created a beautiful family that he adored above all.
Rene dedicated 23 years of his life to City Public Service as a Journeyman Electrician. He later rededicated his life as an Electrical Teacher for Southside ISD. Rene was able to inspire and guide countless students, equipping them with the skills and confidence to pursue successful careers in the electrical field, while fostering a love for learning and personal growth.
Family, Friends, Coworkers and Students all collectively agree he consistently made a positive impact on others.
Rene is survived by his adoring children, Aricela Coker and Zachary Martinez; parents, Pedro Martinez and Maria Isabel Martinez; siblings, Miguel Martinez, Patricia Garza, Anna Buitron, and Jo Ann Puente; and mother of his children, Maria Martinez.
