He grew up in New Smyrna Beach, FL, where he developed a love of hunting and fishing. He
joined the CCC during the 1930's, and later entered the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theatre in WWII where, in England, he met the love of his life, Enid and as a member of the Occupation Force in Japan after the War. He retired from the service in 1956, moving to Hawaii, serving as a Sr. Administrator for CINCPAC. He devoted himself to his wife and raising his family in a tropical paradise.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter, and his parents. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Enid; a daughter, Lolli Don Hollsten; a son, Geoffrey Guntharp; a brother, Paul Guntharp; and 7 grandchildren, Jordan and Shannon Hollsten, Tiffany Sean Sydow, Brandi Hollsten, Kelsey and Noah Guntharp, and Bree Mark Beauregard.
