Reynaldo (Rey) B. Ysassi, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24, 2021 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. Rey was born on October 5, 1938 in Orange Grove, Texas, the fifth of thirteen children, to Dionicio and Cecilia Ysassi. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
Rey grew up in Robstown, Texas and married Isidora Valadez. He was blessed with eight children and settled his family in San Antonio, Texas. His career was in underground utility construction as a superintendent for Nelson Lewis, Inc. displaying great leadership and work ethic. Rey truly lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling, reading, watching western movies and spending time with family and friends. He had an ability to reach people in a positive way through his listening and thoughtful actions. His wit, humor and wisdom will always be remembered.
Rey is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Hector Ysassi; his brother, Ramon Ysassi; and his sisters, San Juanita Ysassi and Lydia Cuevas.
Rey is survived by his wife of 62 years, Isidora (Dora) Ysassi; his children Rey (Sandra) Ysassi, Jr., Minnie (Frank) Barrera, Yolanda (Roland) Martinez, Sandra (Valdemar) Pitman, Rudy (Dora) Ysassi, Albert (Jennifer) Ysassi, and Dora Ysassi. He is also blessed and survived by seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
A special thanks to Rey’s youngest sister, Aunt Gloria Ysassi for her help in our time of need. Thank you, also, to the well wishes and prayers sent.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 pm (noon) on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at St. Anthony De Padua in San Antonio, Texas. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian in San Antonio, Texas.
