Rhonda Ann Ramirez

Rhonda Ann Ramirez passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at her home in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted mother to Nelson (wife Beth), Candice Reschke (husband Matt), Gioconda Lee (husband Scott), Angela Penaloza (husband Tony), and Mia Balderas (husband David). She was also a cherished sister to Rose Palacios and Renee Fortier.

Rhonda lived a life marked by strength, compassion, and service to others. In her youth she lovingly cared for her younger siblings, a role that foreshadowed her lifelong dedication to helping those in need. She worked as a neonatal nurse in San Antonio for 22 years, providing care and comfort to countless families. During her time in New York City, she served terminally ill AIDS patients at the height of the epidemic, and later devoted herself to supporting survivors at a battered women’s shelter. After many years of selfless service, she retired and returned to San Antonio.

Rhonda leaves behind eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Chloe, who remained faithfully by her side until the very end. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Pete Ramirez.

Her spirited personality, generous heart, and unwavering resilience will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May we treasure her memory and not the sadness of her passing.

A memorial service will be held on December 1, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218.
