

Lt. Col. Richard L. Larson, Sr., USAF (Ret.), age 94, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 in San Antonio. He was born on October 15, 1918 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Theodore and Sophie Larson. Richard moved to Harlingen, Texas as a child, where he grew up. He joined the Army at age 18, serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and then in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, until his retirement in 1976. Richard was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross while serving his country. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Larson in 1995. Richard is survived by his wife of 14 years, Jean Uerling Larson; and five Larson children, 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by the Uerling family, 6 children, their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Porter Loring Mortuary.
