He was preceded in death by his parents, Lou and Lucille Shulman and his son, Kenyon Shulman of Houston, Texas. He is survived by his son, Jay Shulman and his grandson, Reese Shulman of San Antonio, Texas.
He was a 1957 graduate of Iowa City High School and attended the University of Oklahoma where he was affiliated with Pi Lamda Phi fraternity. He attended the University of Iowa and received a LLB degree in 1964.
He practiced law with the firm of Hart, Shulman, Phelen, and Tucker in Iowa City, before going into the USAF Judge Advocates Corps where he served in Vietnam and was promoted to the rank of Captain. He was a Vice President of Central National Bank and was involved in real estate development in Houston, Texas.
He moved back to Iowa City and was associated with Bravermans Food Company. In 1990 he moved to San Antonio to be near his family.
