

Rita was born in Howells, Nebraska on October 25, 1920 to Joseph A. Novak and Ella Folda Novak. After graduating from high school in Howells, Rita moved to Rochester, Minnesota to attend St. Mary's Nursing School.
In 1943, shortly after graduation, Rita joined the U.S. Navy as a nurse and served both stateside and in the Solomon Islands. She was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 as a lieutenant and she moved that year to San Antonio, where her brothers Dr. Joseph J. Novak and Ralph M. Novak were living, to be near family.
During her career she worked as administrator of a doctor's office and as a bank officer.
Rita was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
In April 1999, Rita moved to The Village at Incarnate Word and lived there until her death.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Dr. Joseph J. Novak and Ralph M. Novak.
She is survived by her nephew, Ralph M. Novak, Jr.; her niece, Jane Ann Robertson; and her two sisters-in-law, Lois Novak and Susan Novak.
