

Robert Thomas Bourell, born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 18, 1944, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert was known for his generous spirit, kind heart, and deep love for those around him.
Born to Ida-Belle Bourell and William K. Miller, Robert was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather Howard Bourell, father William K. Miller, brother Brian Bourell,half-brother Bill Miller, half-sister Holly-Bethe Miller, son John Bourell and granddaughter Carabelle Ward. He is survived by his loving daughters, Cynthia Jones, Tiffany Greenwood, and Jaqueline Ward; his son, Robert Thomas Bourell Jr.; along with 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.
Robert is also survived by his half-sister Patti J. Crone and half-brothers Warren Miller, Geoff Miller, and Tim Miller, as well as many extended family members and friends.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force, Robert, an entrepreneur at heart, started an antique business with his beloved wife, Paula Bourell. Together, they hosted antique shows in Honolulu, Hawaii, that drew visitors from around the world and raised money for the American Heart Association.
The family eventually moved to San Antonio, Texas, where Robert and Paula launched a successful retail and wholesale fine jewelry business. His stores and hotel gift shops became beloved establishments, thanks to his remarkable business acumen and the respect he earned from employees and customers alike.
Robert cherished his family above all else, delighting in laughter and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A passionate fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys, he loved cheering on his favorite teams.
A man of faith, Robert believed in following Jesus and living a life rooted in love. His unwavering belief in the power of kindness and connection left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Robert’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. A visitation for Robert will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, with the celebration of life to follow from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A committal service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 1:45 PM to 2:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209 at Shelter #4.
