

Robert Earl "Buster" Fawcett, Jr. passed away on June 28, 2017. Buster was born in San Antonio on November 28, 1931 to Blanche Annette Johnson Fawcett and Robert Earl Fawcett. He attended Alamo Heights, TMI and The University of Texas where he was a proud member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Besides a short stint in Waco, he was a lifelong resident of Alamo Heights, a place he dearly loved. In 1952 he married Ann Bradford Ingrum with whom he had three daughters. After her death in 2007, he married Annie Mae Funk Carrington, longtime family friend, in 2012.
Buster lived an extraordinary life. He had a highly successful banking career spanning 47 years with Frost Bank beginning as Assistant Cashier in 1957 and culminating as Director Emeritus in 2004. He served in numerous leadership roles at the bank including Chairman of the Board of North Frost Bank and Senior Executive Vice President of Cullen Frost Bank. He was widely admired for his business acumen and creative thinking. Buster was active socially in many organizations including the Texas Cavaliers, Order of the Alamo (Past President), The San Antonio German Club, Merry Knights of King William, Conopus Club, San Antonio Country Club and The Argyle. Buster also served on the board of St. Mary's Hall for several years.
He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved Aunt Enie, and his first wife. He is survived by his second wife and his three daughters: Lynn Fawcett Russell (John), Elizabeth "Beth" Fawcett Walthall (Leon), Ann "Nita" Fawcett Kiolbassa (Michael). He was extremely proud of his grandchildren; Kelly Russell McWherter (Blake), Robert Fawcett Russell (Whitney), Steven Joseph Pritchard, Jr. (Jamie), Ann Pritchard Root (Loren), Carey Elizabeth Pritchard (fiancé: Ramsay Bellinger), Michael Rufin "Rusty" Kiolbassa, Jr. and Claudia Luedemann Kiolbassa and his great grandchildren Kate and John Clayton McWherter, Michael and James Russell. He is also survived by Leon Walthall IV (Olivia), Katherine Walthall Karam (Clifton) and their new baby LaNelle. His many longtime friends will miss Buster as he was always a bigger than life presence in any group.
Honorary pallbearers are Tom Frost, Elkin McGaughy, Sam Maclin, Houston Harte, Warren Freund, B.F. Pitman III, A.A. Urrutia and Dick Evans.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Pl. San Antonio, TX 78212. A reception will follow at San Antonio Country Club. Interment will be private at Christ Church Columbarium.
