He was born on March 15, 1931, in Bloomington, IL, where he attended school and graduated.
Robert served in the US Navy, and retired with the rank of SCPO after 25 years of service. He served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Robert went on to the civil service until he retired in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Fumiko; a daughter, Midori Acker and husband Emmett; a grandson, Emmett N. Acker and wife Laurie; a great granddaughter, Arianna; and a sister, Ruth Waddell.
Robert will be greatly missed. He will be laid to rest in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
