Robert was born in Lubbock, Texas to Pleasant Robert Gilbert and Lillian Beatrice Gilbert and grew up in Menard, Texas.
Robert loved cars and motors and the family farm.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Cheryl; niece, Jenna; nephew, Eric and his wife Kerry; and their children, Lilly and Finlay. He was preceded in death by his wife, LeeEllen Gilbert; his parents; and brother, Dr. Roger Gilbert.
