'A wonderful friend of long standing. We met in 1953 at a dance hall in England and in later years started to correspond and it gave us pleasure to remember wonderful memories. I have always had a special place in my heart for him. He was a truly wonderful individual and an example to us all. I will miss his news and his letters so much. Rest in Peace now Bob, your suffering (which you bore so well) has ended.'

'I knew Bob through stamp collecting. He was very active in the hobby and he and I shared some common interests. He was always ready with a good story and had a quick wit. I will miss seeing him.'

'It is with a heavy heart that we say good-bye to our very first customer, 'Mr. Bob' Joyce. Mr. Bob found us when we were just building out the Bagel Factory in June 2009. He would stop by almost daily to sit and chat with the construction supervisor. He promised me he would be the first customer, and he was! He was waiting for me at 5 am the first morning (we didn't open until 6 am). He had his dollar bill already signed and ready -- when I told him I would frame it, he brought me this picture of himself!
Mr. Bob's favorite bagel was a toasted Everything with butter and he liked his coffee light & sweet ("just like my women," he would say with a wink) For years, he stopped by almost 7 days a week for his 'fix.' He loved to tell stories about his 35 years in the military, but nothing lit up his eyes more than when he spoke of his beloved Felice and his daughter, Christine.
As the years went on, Bob's visits became more infrequent as his Parkinson's got worse, but he did make a final visit to us just about two months ago. I was lucky enough to sit outside with him for an hour, just to be in his company and share our friendship. Even though his eyesight was deteriorating and he was in a wheelchair, he continued to amaze me as he shared his words of wisdom and compassion -- his mind was still sharper than anyone I know. Bob was a man of great loyalty, integrity and love. My friendship with Bob was a gift that I will always cherish. With a last hug, a kiss on the cheek and an I love you, .... that's how I'll always remember Mr. Bob. 
92 years on this earth is a long time -- Sleep well, my friend, and dance with Felice like no one is watching! '

'It's been an honor to have been ur caregiver for the last 4+years also was honored to have been Mrs Joyce's caregiver I'm sure the both of u r having a ball in heaven may u both rest in heaven'

'Our thought and prayers go out to Christine and her family. I will always have the best memories of him growing up and seeing him when he came home. I will treasure our last visit he had to Massachusetts and will hold those pictures close to heart. I will miss him as much as the rest of our his family here. 'I have known Robert Joyce and his wife Felice since being assigned with him at Ramstein AB, Germany in 1973-1976. He was the base Transportation Squadron Commander and I was assigned to the HQ US Air Forces Europe. I knew him through out the years through our association with the National Defense Transportation Association Annual Conventions and the San Antonio Chapter. He was a major player in NDTA and supported the local Chapter, State and National levels as well. He always had a story to tell and it was interesting to hear of his WW II experiences. 'As his daughter's client and friend for 35-plus years, I knew Robert as he guided her from a fledgling high school graduate to an up-and-coming business woman to an independent business decision-maker. He played every role necessary from the beginning to help her succeed, from custodial to bookkeeping to managerial. His mentorship had the added advantage of his personality in her shop where he enjoyed meeting every customer, never met a stranger, and could engage in lively conversation with anyone. His devotion to his daughter and his wife was an inspiration to all who knew them. Robert enriched our lives with his integrity and by his example.'
