Robert George Kelvin, known to all as Bob, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024. Bob was born in Tynemouth, England in 1945 where he lived through his college years. Upon earning his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Birmingham University, Bob's journey took him from England to Canada where he immigrated right after he married Rosalind, his wife of 56 years. After 12 years in Canada, he made his way to Texas, with a brief stint in Florida, and eventually back to Texas when the grandkids came along.
He leaves behind a close family of Kelvins and Dinsmores who will miss his adventurous spirit and his uncanny ability to turn the mundane into a new experience. His beloved wife, Rosalind, was the cornerstone of his life, and daughters Suzanne and Kimberley will continue to share tales of their father's adventures and share his passion for travel. Son-in-law John Dinsmore will no doubt miss the banter and friendly debates, while grandchildren John Robert, Christopher, and Molly Dinsmore will carry on his legacy of curiosity and joy for life.
Bob was known as a talented and dedicated structural engineer for 45 years, but he always had time for many interests. Spending time on the Texas coast, fishing or relaxing. Traveling many places with each destination serving as a new adventure and finally, English soccer and his lifetime dedication to Newcastle United.
Bob's life was a testament to the fact that one can be both funny and intelligent, adventurous yet dependable. His was a life lived fully, with every moment seized and every opportunity embraced. Bob may have left us in body, but his spirit, his humor, and his love for life will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
So here's to Bob Kelvin, beloved Dad and Grandad, a man who engineered a life well-lived, constructed a family of love, laughter and adventure, and left us all with smiles on our faces, even as we say goodbye. He will be missed, but his spirit lives on.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
