Robert proudly served his country in the US Army Air Force as a radar technician. He became an oil exploration pioneer in Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela, holding several patents in the industry and for many years was a research engineer for Exxon.
He became a licensed pilot, A & P and was a former member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. His passion for aircraft and the freedom of the skies inspired him to build an Aviat Eagle II, which won a Grand Champion Experimental Biplane award. He also built a Rotoway Helicopter.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Zachary Stewart.
Robert is survived by his beloved spouse of 25 years, Mary Mo Kirby; children: Dennis Kirby, Andrea Kirby, Randall Stewart and wife, Jeanne; Ralph Stewart and wife, Elizabeth; grandson, Damian Falcon and fiancé, Liberty Barney; granddaughters: Mary Kate Stewart and Carmen Stewart.
He was a true genius of his time ~ we loved him dearly, his memory will be held in our hearts.
