Robert A. McFall passed peacefully into the Lord's presence at home on May 26, 2012 at the age of 80. He was a graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria, Illinois. Upon graduating from high school, Robert served in the Korean War. Following the war, Robert graduated from the University of Illinois and John Marshall Law School, and worked as an engineer and patent agent for Caterpillar for 30 years. After retiring and moving to San Antonio, Robert worked at Jenkens & Gilchrist, and Gunn, Lee & Miller, and Southwest Research in San Antonio, Texas, as a patent agent.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; Mother, Eleanor; and sister, Juanita. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley of 55 years; daughter Suzanne Sanders and husband Kenny; daughter Michelle Hargis and husband Tres; grandchildren Amanda Kaufmann, Bethany Kaufmann, and Christopher Hargis; Brother, Tom McFall; sisters Faith McFall and Donna Midgette.
Robert enjoyed traveling, photography, hiking the mountains of Colorado, reading, and spending time with his family. He served as a deacon of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Illinois, and helped lead music for his Sunday School class at Wayside Chapel in San Antonio, Texas.
He was admired by all who knew of his positive determination, courage and devotion to Jesus Christ in spite of battling numerous health issues including being a double amputee. He truly fulfilled the pledge he made to his wife Shirley 55 years ago this June when he presented her with a wedding ring inscribed with "I love you more than yesterday but less than tomorrow."
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
