

He graduated from Longmont High School, earned his Bachelor degree from the University of Colorado and his degree in Medicine from the University of Colorado Medical School. He interned and obtained his general surgery residency at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital, CO. Dr. Treasure completed his cardiothoracic residency at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
He was deployed to service in Korea and served as Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Chief of Professional Services at the 121 Evacuation Hospital. Returning to Walter Reed, he served as Assistant Chief. Col. Treasure subsequently served as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Fitzsimmons and Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC); Chief Deputy of Surgery; Deputy Commander of Clinical Services and Commander at BAMC.
Dr. Treasure was certified by the American Board of Surgery and the board of Thoracic Surgery; was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, College of Cardiology and Chest Physicians, a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgery and the American Association for Thoracic Surgeons. His academic appointments include Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of California (Davis), Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas, Adjunct Professor of Surgery Uniformed Services with awards from Alpha Omega Alpha, Army Commendation Medal, and Meritorious Service with Oak Leaf and Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf.
In addition to his parents, his brother Thomas Treasure; sister Billie Marie Brennan and husband, DeWitt preceded him in death.
Dr. Treasure is survived by his sister in law, Betty Treasure; niece, Tommie Lou Teel and husband, Charles; nephew, Fred Treasure and wife, Barbara; their two sons, Emrys and Trevor; his partner of 20 + years, Jose Lopez along with his faithful dog, Austin.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd at 9:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
