LTC Robert Lowry, U.S. Army Ret., age 86, passed away after a one year valiant struggle with cancer on Sunday, October 23, 2005 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was well known as a very honest man and a devoted husband and father.
Mr. Lowry was employed by Union Pacific Railroad before World War II where he served in the Pacific in General MacArthur's headquarters. After the war he returned to Union Pacific and served as President of the Telegraphers Union. He retired as Vice President of Labor Relations for Amtrak. He served as a labor arbitrator for many years following his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Srb Lowry; and daughters, Elizabeth Lowry and Katherine Lowry.
