CMSgt Roberto R. Martinez, known affectionately as Chief or Bobby by his loved ones and friends, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at the age of 79, in his birthplace and lifelong home of San Antonio. Born on December 15, 1945, Robert's life was a testament to his unwavering faith, his deep love for his family, and his passion for life's simple pleasures.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Pedro Martinez Sr. and Celia Ramos Martinez, as well as his faithful pup Lacey.
His legacy of love and laughter lives on through his devoted wife, Dolores Martinez; their children, son David Martinez and his wife Tammy, and daughter Lisa Ozuna and her husband James. His joy was multiplied by his grandchildren, Beth Martinez, Jonathan Ozuna, Megan Martinez, Josh Martinez, Jaden Ozuna, and Jordan Ozuna, who all cherished him as their beloved grandpa. As well as his faithful canine companion Daisy Mae.
He is also survived by his dear siblings, sister Oralia Saucedo and her husband Ernesto, brother Pedro Martinez Jr. and his wife Estella, and sister MaryRose Herrera and her husband George.
Robert's steadfast faith shaped his character and guided his actions throughout his life. He served as a shining example of compassion and integrity to all who knew him. Robert found great joy in being a grandparent; it was a title he wore with immense pride and joy. His grandchildren will forever carry with them the lessons he taught through his actions, the stories he shared, and the unconditional love he gave.
Robert's interests were diverse, but they all circled back to the central theme of his life: family. Whether he was cheering on his grandchildren at their sports games, sharing a meal with his loved ones, or simply enjoying the company of his family at home, he was happiest surrounded by the people he cherished most.
The Martinez family has lost its patriarch, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide them. Robert's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, service, and joy that will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. In his passing, the family takes comfort in knowing that he has found eternal peace and that his spirit will always be with them.
As the sun sets on a life well-lived, we bid farewell to CMSgt Roberto R. Martinez, a man who was much loved and will be greatly missed. His influence will continue to be felt, and his memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Porter Loring Mortuary West 1710 W. Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX 78251, with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2610 Perez St, San Antonio, TX 78207. Immediately following the Mass, a Committal Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
