Roberto Alonzo Valerio went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 31, 2018 at the age of 82. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Evaristo and Margarita (Garcia) Valerio on September 17, 1935. Lovingly known as Robert, he was raised in San Diego, Texas. He faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He was a bit of a western fanatic, enjoying western movies, history and readings. Robert was passionate about sports so much he coached his sons in baseball. He enjoyed all sports but was a true Spurs and Cowboys fan. He loved dancing, especially to cojuntos music and food was always delighting. On his free time, he volunteered at the Sunshine Community. Roberts faith and love for Jesus Christ was undeniable and he loved reading the gospel and living by faith. He was known for his uplifting, loving, compassionate spirit; a man who always spoke positive of others, kind hearted and loving in all his ways. Robert was a loving father with a corky sense of humor whos presence will truly be missed.
He has been reunited with his parents, son Robert Valerio Jr, grandson John Paul, and companion Rose Benavides. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children: Debbie (Alvin) Valerio-Hernandez, Gloria (Dan) Hosch, Alma (Jim) Raimondi, Michael (Maria) Valerio, Cindy (Kim) Lamy, Lisa Spharler; sister Gloria (Modesto) Garcia; the mother of his children, Omie Becker and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Service will continue on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 20523 Huebner Rd, with a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass and interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
