Born on December 18, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, to Sulema Medellin Garcia and Miguel H. Flores, Roger lived a life defined by courage, service, and deep devotion to those he loved. A proud Vietnam War veteran and Purple Heart recipient, he served with honor on the front lines as part of the Airborne Division and later in the National Guard as a Military Police Officer during his distinguished 27 year military career.
Following his service, Roger continued his commitment to others through 30 years of civil service, beginning at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio and retiring from Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
Yet beyond all his accomplishments, Roger’s greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted father, a loving grandfather, and a steady, comforting presence who made everyone around him feel safe, supported, and deeply cared for.
Roger found joy in life’s simple pleasures, barbecuing, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, who were truly the center of his world. A cowboy at heart, he loved western movies and carried that quiet strength, grit, and independence with him throughout his life. He also cherished his daily walks in the park with his beloved adopted dog, Timmy, moments that brought him peace and happiness.
Known for his unmistakable sense of humor, Roger made people laugh throughout his life and even until the very end. Alongside his humor was a depth of wisdom, often shared through meaningful words that stayed with those who heard them. Guided by a strong faith in God, he lived virtuously, attending church every Sunday and leading his life with love, integrity, kindness, and purpose.
Roger was a deeply giving and compassionate man who always put others before himself. He had a rare ability to make people feel seen, understood, and valued, and he cherished every friendship with genuine love and gratitude. His impact will continue to live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his children: Felicia Flores-Costantino (Brian Sr.), Roger Flores Jr (Lydia), and Gregory Flores(Marisa); his grandchildren: Alicia M. Aguilar, Elianna C. I. Costantino, Brian Costantino Jr., Julian R. Costantino, Aria M. S. Costantino, and Roger J. M. Flores III; his sisters: Diane Garcia and Dolores Martinez; and his brothers: Victor M. Garcia, Joe C. Garcia (Theresa), and Jesse C. Garcia.
Roger will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
One of Rogers final messages to one of his grandchildren was “I’m leaving my love with you and I’m taking all of yours with me.” - R.F.
