Ronnie was born on March 12, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas to parents Arthur Roy Horsley and Pearl Lucille Horsley. He graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 1971, attended San Antonio Community College and was an electrician by trade. San Antonio was the city he called home, but he fell in love with the Texas Hill Country and loved the family ranch in Tarpley, Texas.
Ronnie was a loving son, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his mother Pearl Lucille Horsley, sons Christopher Glenn Horsley (Bonnie) and Tyson Eliott Horsley (Lina), granddaughter Harper Annaliese Horsley, Uncle Vernon Behrendt (Carolyn), numerous cousins and three Chihuahuas - Lover Boy, Max and Kathy. He is preceded in death by his father Arthur Roy Horsley.
Ronnie was a very special man of many talents and a heart of gold. He was extremely intelligent and from a very young age, Ronnie was drawn to tinkering, a passion that he enjoyed his entire life. Be it making fireworks, fixing things at the family ranch, or helping his family with household repairs - Ronnie was always busy with projects.
Ronnie had a huge heart. He loved animals and provided a home to cats, ferrets, goats, chickens, turkeys, squirrel monkeys, honeybees, and many Chihuahuas over the years. He enjoyed gardening and grew a variety of vegetables including tomatoes, onions, jalapeos and chile pequns.
But above anything else, Ronnie loved his children, Christopher and Tyson, his granddaughter, Harper, and his mother Pearl. He was extremely proud to be Grandpa Ronnie to his granddaughter.
Some of Christophers and Tysons fondest childhood memories come from the time they spent with their father at the family ranch deep in the heart of Texas: making fireworks, watching the stars, observing wildlife, helping raise baby chickens, feeding deer, caring for cattle, sharing stories around the bonfire, swimming together, and watching old Star Trek and The Twilight Zone episodes.
As young adults, Christopher and Tyson embarked on a once-in-lifetime adventure with their father through Germany: riding the trains, feasting on bratwurst and German beers, dancing at the Hofbruhaus and building everlasting family memories.
Ronnie was a man who lived large and grand - he had a quick mind and a sharp tongue, he was a great storyteller and had all the answers, took his spice hotter than hot, and taught his family to live their lives to the fullest. His passing leaves a void in everyones heart, and he will be dearly missed.
