Ronald Stehouwer

Ron was born on February 4, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Colorado State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Teacher Certification in Math and Statistics. He had a successful football career with the Pittsburgh Steelers while completing his Masters Degree and PhD candidacy in Industrial Psychology. During this time, he married his beloved wife of 43 years, Lenore Zarlengo Stehouwer. They were blessed with five children and six grandchildren. Ron owned and operated Stehouwer and Associates, Inc. since 1982.

He was a great supporter and volunteer for youth sports in San Antonio. Having previously been an Adjunct Professor at St. Mary's University, he has more recently enjoyed teaching at UTSA and spending time with his family. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed the mountains and was well known for his cooking expertise.

As an active parishioner at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, he served as a Lector/Commentator and Eucharist Minister. Ron had a way of making everyone who crossed his path feel loved and special. He had a tremendous sense of humor and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Ron is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Harold Stehouwer and his parents, Helen and Harold Stehouwer. He is survived by his loving wife, Lenore; his daughter, Veronica Stehouwer Herrmann and her husband, Paul; his son R. Mark Stehouwer and his wife, Jennifer; his daughter Helen Stehouwer Stein and her husband, Rob; his daughter, Lucy Ann Stehouwer; grandchildren, William, Eleanor Ellie and Anna Christopher Herrmann; Cavanaugh and Elise Lenore Adams and Christopher Stein; his brother, Ken Stehouwer and his wife, Barbara; 11 nieces and nephews and many other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 21st from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Porter Loring.
