Rosemary (Ezzo) Hons, of San Antonio, TX, entered into eternal rest on October 25, 2011 at the age of 92. Born May 7, 1919, in Port Henry, New York, she was one of 13 children born to Bosco and Pasqualine (Fucci) Ezzo. Encouraged by her high school principal, she enrolled in nursing school where she studied and became a Registered Nurse. During WW II, she served as a volunteer Red Cross nurse in San Antonio, where she met her husband Jerome “Jerry” Hons. They married on June 18, 1945 and together raised five children instilling in them her love for learning and reading. She continued working as a nurse first at the SA TB Hospital and then as a school nurse for the Harlandale ISD until she retired in 1985. She was an avid reader and loved to pass along helpful tips about living, cooking, or cleaning to anyone she met. During retirement, she quilted bedspreads for her children and grandchildren, read novels, and kept up with her journal writing. She enjoyed RV traveling with her husband and his sister Mary and husband Paul. Rosemary and Jerry spent many cool summers in upstate NY in her home town of Port Henry. In September 2008, Rosemary and Jerry moved to The Village at Incarnate Word where she spent her last years cultivating friendships and sharing life experiences with the wonderful people at the Village. All who loved and knew her will remember her wonderful sense of humor, beautiful smile, and cheerful personality. She was a living example of treating others as you would have them treat you.
