

It is with great sadness that we announce on Saturday, October 3, 2020, Rosie Teresa Carreon, wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and godmother, passed in peace at the age of 70 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Cementville, Texas.
Rosie was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She cherished her children and embraced every moment with them. Rosie loved to love on people, always putting others before her. She loved family gatherings and always hosted as many as she could. No matter how much work it took, Rosie loved hosting. For Rosie, she was happiest when her family was around her. Rosie had a flair for baking, especially during the holidays. She was a master cook in the kitchen. She loved family game nights because it meant she was with family. She had an infectious smile that could light up your soul. Rosie devoted her career and life to the Alamo Colleges District for over twenty years. Colleagues expressed gratitude and honored to work alongside with Rosie. She treated everyone with respect and always put the students first. Her work ethic was phenomenal. She devoted time and money to school causes for many years, such as Back to School Supply Drives, Coat Drives and the Angel Tree Children at area elementary schools every Christmas. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. When you think of Rosie, celebrate the good memories you had with her. She led by example on being a compassionate human being. We will continue honoring Rosie, you are gone, but you left your footprints here so we can follow them for the rest of our lives.
Rosie was preceded in death by her father, Ernesto and mother Hortencia R. Gallardo and her eldest brother Ernesto R. Gallardo.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Carreon and her three loving children, Jennifer Michelle Carreon (grandsons Christopher Adam Salas and Adam Anthony Salas), (Great Grandson Jaxon Salas), Shawna Lynn Carreon (Erica) (granddaughter Kirsten Facundo) and Christopher Joseph Carreon (granddaughters Cacie Kristine Carreon, Jasmine Nicole Carreon, grandsons Christopher Joseph Carreon, Jr. and Chase Roan Carreon). She will be sorely missed and survived by her siblings Hector Gallardo (Diane), Mary Gallardo, Lucy Gallardo, Elsa Barrera (Robert), Robert Gallardo (Lucy), Jesse Gallardo (Diane) Richard Gallardo (Debra) David Gallardo (Melody) and Judy Kabo (Jeff). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
She was godmother to Caitlyn Rose Gallardo, Elizabeth Gallardo, Alyssa Willis and Elexis Willis.
The public viewing will take place from 5:00-6:30 pm. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78209. A private rosary will take place from 7:00-8:00 pm for family only. A Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, 4603 St. John’s Way, San Antonio, TX 78212 on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 9:00 am.
A gathering will be held at 11 am.
