

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable individual, Dr. Rufino Salinas, age 83. He passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 14, 1940, in Los Herreras, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to parents, Ramiro Salinas Salinas and Soledad Salinas Benavides. Dr. Salinas embraced the simplicity of life and cherished his Mexican heritage, continuing to embrace his roots throughout all life. A kind and compassionate soul, Dr. Salinas touched the lives of many with his warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his dreams. Dr. Salinas’ journey was one of inspiration and achievement. Armed with determination, he earned his medical degree from La Universidad de Nuevo Leon. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning him one Bronze Star Medal with Valor. He became a board-certified Urologist and led a successful medical practice for 45 years. His dedication to his profession as a physician not only earned him the respect of colleagues but also served as a guiding light for his family, illustrating the boundless possibilities that come with hard work and perseverance. As a father, Dr. Salinas was a pillar of love and guidance to his two daughters. His family was the heartbeat of his existence, and his enduring love for his wife, who shared the same birthday, painted a picture of a marriage built on companionship, understanding, and a deep connection that transcended time.
Beyond his professional and family life, Dr. Salinas’ commitment to his Catholic faith was evident in every aspect of his being. A humble man who found strength and solace in his beliefs, he radiated kindness and understanding to all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. He was preceded in death by his parents Ramiro Salinas Salinas and Soledad Salinas Benavides, sister, Eduarda Salinas, brother, Ramiro Salinas, sister, Lydia Quezada. Dr. Rufino Salinas is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Alice Satarain Salinas, and his daughters, Monica Salinas (William Griffith), Maricela Salinas Luby (Eric Luby); grandchildren, Alexander, Maxwell, and Zoe; brother Rodolfo Salinas (Cristina Salinas); sisters, Laura Estella Veloz (Heriberto Veloz), and Alicia Garcia (Guadalupe Garcia-deceased); sister in law, Lila Salinas (Ramiro Salinas-deceased). He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, daughters, family, and friends. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff that cared for him.
