Russell E. "Russ" Owens went to be with his Lord on June 14, 2002. He was born on October 18, 1915, in Red Oak, Iowa, to Anna Purdue Owens and Claude E. Owens. The family moved to Omaha, Nebraska when Russell was nine, where he attended Benson High School and Omaha University. He served his country in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1946 during which time he met and married Ruth Westbrook of San Antonio, Texas. He retired from a Sales and Management career with Fruehauf Trailer Corp. after 33 years. He then sold real estate for ten years. During his retirement years, he volunteered at The Meadows Retirement Community of Morningside Ministries. Russ is survived by his wife, Ruth; sister, Eulalia Hultman and her husband Dwight of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Erskine E. Owens of Southern Pines, North Carolina; daughters, Martha J. Payne, Carole L. Andrews and her husband Toxie, and Sarah J. Travis and her husband William, all of San Antonio; sons, Russell David Owens and his wife Cheryl of Bulverde, Texas, and Bruce Westbrook Owens and his wife M'Lynda of Austin, Texas; and twelve grandchildren.
