'Dr. Fowler was such an amazing woman. She was never too busy to talk to you and always had a smile and kind word to say about her staff and her children. Even after her retirement I would see her in HEB and she would always ask about my kids. She touched so many lives and made such a wonderful positive impact on thousands of young impressionable lives. She will be missed. My prayers are with you.'

I remember lots of wonderful things about Ruth that have already been mentioned--sharing, caring and fun. I spent a lot of time with Ruth when she was Principal at Woodstone Elementary and I was in the planning stages for opening nearby Stahl. She had graciously prepared an office for me at Woodstone, so I wouldn't have to drive each day from Castle Hills on the other side of the District. She was my mentor. She shared her insights about opening a new school, so that I could make my own mistakes rather than repeat hers.

 Working in my office at Woodstone that Spring, I could see how much she cared about her students, her teachers, her parents and community--how they all became a part of her (and your) extended family.

My daughter Carol, a first year teacher who had started her teaching in a smaller NEISD school with fewer students, was transferred to the new Woodstone after the first six weeks. Her younger brother John helped her move her things in. When he came home he asked if Woodstone was a private Christian school. I answered, "No, why do you ask that?" He said, '. . . because Carol was tearing up as she set up her classroom because she missed her kids at the other school, and the Principal and the teachers all kept hugging her and saying, "Bless your heart. Bless your heart."'

Most of all, what I remember about time spent with Ruth is that we laughed a lot--at ourselves and at each other. I will miss the fun.

Our hearts are happy that she has reached the goal we all long to achieve, she is with Our Heavenly Father and we are so very happy for her, and blessed that she touched our lives with her grace.
