Sandra Rainey Toledo

Sandra graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1959. Her numerous activities included Lassos, Mustang Cheerleading, Honor Society, Student Council, Library Council, Masque and Gavel, Junior and Senior Play, Scribblers, Shakespeare Social Club, Tri-Hi-Y, Sophomore Scholastic Society, and first runner up for Miss Teen Texas. Sandra earned a scholarship to Rollins College in Winterpark, Florida. While attending Rollins, she met her husband of 20 years, Tony M. Toledo. She was active in Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Tony graduated and began Medical School at Tulane and Sandra transferred to Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio where she received a Bachelor’s degree in English. After getting married, Sandra moved to New Orleans and taught middle school English while Tony was in medical school. Clark, Katherine, and Blair were all born after moving back to San Antonio. Sandra always stated that being a mother was her highest earthly calling. Over the years, Sandra attended church at Shearer Hills Baptist Church, River City Fellowship and Wayside Chapel. She was active in Bible Study Fellowship, Jefferson Reunion Group, numerous prayer Groups, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni. She enjoyed frequent gatherings with her lifelong friends in a monthly dinner group and weekly bridge club.

Sandra will be remembered for her smile, warm presence, unconditional love, loyalty, and unwavering faith.Sandra was preceded in death by her mother and father, stepfather, Charles W. Schneider,former husband Tony Toledo, their son Clark Anthony Toledo and sister Paula Schneider. Sandra is survived by daughters Kathy Toledo Starch and husband David, and Blair Toledo Vasquez and husband Eduardo; grandchildren Peighton Starch, Coleman Starch, Presley Starch, and Vienna Vasquez; brother-in-law Thomas Schneider; niece Brooke Spencer and husband Loren; great nieces and nephews Lawson Spencer, Rainey Ellis, Mary Alice Spencer, Cameron Spencer, Thomas Spencer; and first cousin Carol Brown.
