Sarah Elizabeth Richardson

Sarah Elizabeth “Libby” Richardson, age 88, died on May 15, 2010. She was born December 6, 1921 in Brownwood, TX to Andrew Battle & Leona Maude Townsend. Libby graduated from Brownwood High and on October 28, 1940 married John H. Richardson at the parsonage of First Methodist Church in Brownwood. In June 1956, “J” and Libby made their home in San Antonio. The following year they adopted a baby, Martha Jane, and in 1959 they adopted another baby, John Bickley.

Libby was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church for 48 years. She served on the Staff Parish Relations Committee, participated in bake sales, rummage sales, bazaars, and dinners, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. In her later years Libby was a charter member of the Senior “Hot Shot” card group. At home, she enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and friends.

Libby was preceded in death by four siblings. She is survived by her husband, “J”, daughter, Martha Allen & husband Craig; son, John B. Richardson and wife Dismery; grandchildren, Daniel, Shannon, and Dustin Saunders; Carter, Kennedy, and Clay Richardson; great-granddaughter, Heidi Saunders; and sister, Dorothy Stacks.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday May 20, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m., Friday, May 21, 2010 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 4102 Eisenhauer Rd., San Antonio, TX 78218. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
