

Severa was born in San Antonio, TX to parents Luis Hernandez and Delfina Garza on April 16, 1944. She graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in San Antonio, TX where she was a member of Student Council, Blue Jackets, and the Utopian Social Club. The Cadillac Bar is where she would meet her future husband, Leobardo T. Flores whom she married on August 4, 1968, at San Juan de los Lagos Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Johnson’s School of Beauty. She worked as a Cosmetologist for over 50 years, even traveling across the country to attend classes in New York to stay abreast of current hair trends. She began her career at Dollar Weave Shop at Las Palmas Shopping Center. Then she moved on to Joske’s before owning and operating her own business, Hair & Co. Vera loved reading, baking, quilting, watching Law & Order and became an avid traveler partly due to following her son’s military career. She visited Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Kentucky and finally Killeen, TX. Vera was a very devoted mother and nana who always made sure to attend her children’s and grandchildren’s events.
Severa is preceded in death by her father Luis Hernandez; her mother Delfina G. Guajardo, husband Leobardo T. Flores, brothers Jose Antonio Hernandez and Jesus G. Limon; mother-in-law Alicia T. Flores; father-in-law Daniel A. Flores; brother-in-law Manuel Galan and Paul Rabago and former sister-in-law Cecilia Gutierrez.
Severa is survived by her devoted children; son Michael A. Flores and wife Patricia; daughter Marisa F. Vasquez and husband Leonard; sisters Margaret Morris and Juanita G. Hernandez, and adored grandchildren Leobardo M. Flores, Carolina M. Vasquez and Analisa G. Flores; sisters-in-law Janie Rabago, Socorro Galan, Amelia Carrasco, Esmeralda Flores and Brenda Flores; brothers-in-law Daniel A. Flores, Jr., Robert Flores and Gilbert Carrasco; aunt Janie Vasquez and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great, great nieces and great, great nephews, cousins and host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Leobardo M. Flores, Steve Romo II, J. Leonardo Vasquez III, Jose Dillard, Jr., Wade Graham, and Jakob A. Trevino.
A visitation for Severa will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 7:00 PM, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 350 Sutton Dr, San Antonio, TX 78228 with Father Jude Offer officiating. A committal service will follow on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Mission Burial Park Dominion, 20900 I-10 W, San Antonio, TX 78257.
