Sherrie Dresch Kleck, born July 6, 1942, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2008. Her beautiful smile lit up every room she entered. Anyone who met her knew of her love of life. Sherrie loved her Lord, her family, her friends; and she loved San Antonio. She never met a stranger and was always interested to know all about everyone. Her sons and their families were the greatest joy of her life. She loved her social life, always ready to go out and be surrounded by her friends and the ones she loved. She loved dancing. As a child, Sherrie performed everywhere from the stage to her special room in the back of the house dancing with friends; that love of performing continued until two months ago, when she sang and danced to the movie "Mama Mia".
A graduate of Jefferson High School, head flag twirler, she attended the University of Nevada as featured twirler. Sherrie started volunteering early, joining the San Antonio Art League, chairing the Art Jamboree; and later becoming President of the Art League. Active at the Southwest School of Arts and Crafts, as a member of the board, she co-founded the Folk Craft Experience. She was co-chairman of the Junior League Rummage sale. Also, she was a member of the Battle of Flowers and Military Civilians. As a longtime member of the Conservation Society, she was a booth chairman for NIOSA and a member of the Board Committee.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Herman Dresch. She is survived by her mother, Naomi Russell- Wolfman; her stepmother, Josephine Dresch; son, Edgar R. "Kip" Kleck, III, his wife Dawn, and her grandchildren, Madison, Elise and Cole; son, Johnston Taylor Kleck, his wife Candace, and her grandchildren Taylor and Tenley. She is also survived by her friend and former husband, Eddie Kleck.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Evila Pomeroy, Rafaela Juarez, Romon Urband and Lydia Guerrero. She was lucky to be loved by so many cousins who were always there for her. Sherrie had many special friends who helped make the last four years brighter, MarJo Rogers, Marcia Patton, Virginia Johnson, Leanne Rothemayer, Kim Youngblood, Susie Steves, and Sandee Thomas.
