Sieglinde (Linde) Otto Judson, age 84, passed away of complications due to heart valve degeneration on Saturday, November 27, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. Linde was born on May 30, 1937 in Baerwalde, Germany to Paul Ernst Otto and Elizabeth Gertrud Rehfeld.
Lindes childhood was interrupted by the Russian invasion of Germany during World War II. She and her mother and sister fled their home with few belongings and spent months as part of a group of refugees, fortuitously making their way to Stuttgart, where her father found a new home for their family. Her mother died soon after relocating to Stuttgart, and she was raised primarily by her father and older sister. She met her first husband, Pleasant Jackson McNeel III of San Antonio, in 1960 when he was stationed with the US Army in Stuttgart. The two married in 1961, and their son Pleasant Jackson McNeel IV was born on December 3, 1963 in San Antonio. They divorced in 1978. In 1997 Linde married Jack Judson, Jr. who founded the Magic Lantern Museum in San Antonio. Linde worked at USAA for 30 years before retiring in 1993.
She was an extraordinarily kind and generous person, with a loving heart and ready smile for everyone she met. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed collecting art of various styles, and was devoted to her pets, especially her dachshunds. Linde enjoyed many years volunteering at the Ivy Cottage, which benefited the Santa Rosa Childrens Hospital, and enjoyed taking classes, especially history, at the Academy of Learning in Retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Dr. Marianne Otto; and her husband, Jack Judson, Jr. Linde is survived by son Pleasant J. McNeel IV, and his wife, Catherine Wade McNeel; grandchildren, Elizabeth Clifton McNeel and Emma Catherine McNeel; stepson Dan Judson and his daughter Ellie Judson; and her first husband, Pleasant J. McNeel III.
