

Simone Therese LeJeune, 45, of San Antonio, Texas, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010, after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. Simone was born to Robert (Bob) and Doris LeJeune on November 22, 1964, in Yokuska, Japan, educated at St. Anthony Cathedral School Elementary and Junior High in Beaumont, Texas. She attended Msgr. Kelly High School and is a graduate of Beaumont Charlton-Pollard High School, earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/Psychology from Sam Houston State University, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. She dedicated her life to others, working with families through counseling, social work, youth ministry, and teaching children with special needs. She lived most of her adult life in both Austin and San Antonio, Texas. Simone had a great love for children, elderly, handicapped, and persons with special needs. She was a devoted Catholic and touched the lives of many people with her generosity of spirit and her faith in Christ, as evidenced through her volunteer efforts. Simone was active with many organizations including: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, The Boy Scouts of America, St. Vincent de Paul Charities, ACTS Retreat Team at St. Pius X Catholic Church in San Antonio, Aggie Awakening at St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station, church choirs, CCD, CRHP retreats, Landings, Kairos prison ministry retreats, Walk with Jesus, LifeTeen, and more. Simone is survived by her son, Matthew (13), whom she adopted at an early age; her parents, Robert (Bob) and Doris LeJeune; two brothers and one sister-in-law Andre’ LeJeune and Marcel and Kristy LeJeune; two sisters and one brother-in-law Yvette LeJeune and Suzanne and Thom Taggart; nieces and nephew Celeste Taggart, Kyra LeJeune, Olivia LeJeune, Anna LeJeune, Elise LeJeune, and Dominic LeJeune. The family requests memorials be made to Matthew Mills LeJeune Education Fund at Broadway Bank in lieu of flowers. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday November 21, 2010 and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2010, both at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
