

Sophia Humphrey Ibarra, age 71, died January 10th just after 2:00 a.m. at her secondary home in San Antonio, from complications from pancreatic cancer. Sophia was born, in Victoria, Texas to Albert A. Humphrey, Sr. and Gabriela Humphrey. She is the oldest of seven children.
Sophia was a pioneer for women in the rail and transportation industry; working for the MKT Railroad in San Antonio then with Conrail out of Houston with her territory being the country of Mexico. After remarrying, she went to work for Union Pacific Railroad in Laredo, Texas.
She was the co-founder and co-owner of Rail Link International. Sophia was a devoted Christian and loved to travel and collect antiques of all sorts. She was an undeniable influence in the lives of every member of her family and did not hesitate to step in to help wherever help was needed.
Sophia is survived by her spouse, Carlos Ibarra; son, Loy Garcia; daughter, Melanie Ferraro; grandchildren, Sophia, Maria, Caeleb, Hannah, Sabrina, Jonathan and Amelia and siblings, Gene, Shirley, Albert, Susan, Peggy and Henry.
Services are scheduled in San Antonio at Community Bible Church on Tuesday, January 14th, with the viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. A service will be held in Victoria, Texas on Wednesday, January 15th at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with the viewing at 10:00 a.m. to be followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. with graveside service to follow.
