Stephen "Steve" Pepps, a native of San Antonio, entered into the loving arms of our Lord on October 4, 2021, at the age of 83. His parents, Theodore and Angeline Pepps were Greek immigrants that were working hard to establish their new life in the United States, when at the young age of six, Steve lost his father to an illness. Forged by hard times as a youth, Steve was tough as steel with a heart of gold. He had a soft spot for those in need and was a true servant leader. A veteran of the United States Army, Steve loved his country.
Those who knew him, loved him. Many considered him to be the father they never had. Steves pride and joy was his family; he was a loving husband, father, papou (grandfather), and brother. He lived for God and his family up until the day he departed this world. Steve loved fishing and spending time in the great outdoors, which was where he felt closest to God. His parting wish was to establish a group of fishermen that would use sport fishing to mentor children of disadvantaged homes. He loved reading scripture and would frequently remind others that God is love.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margo Pepps; children, Stephanie Welch (Todd), Ted Pepps (Penni); grandchildren, Samantha Welch, Asher Welch, Cole Pepps, Paxton Pepps; sister, Ellen Pepps; numerous nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p..m on Sunday, October 24th, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary on McCullough Avenue in San Antonio, followed by an evening service beginning at 6:30 p.m.
