Stephen was born in Manhattan, Kansas on July 28, 1980, to Don and Bobbi Smith. He was born the third of four children and was the cutest kid you ever saw.
Stephen is survived by his two daughters, Emma and Leah Smith, his parents Don and Bobbi Smith, his brothers Jim and Dave Smith, sister Audrey Besaw, nine nephews and two nieces. Stephen was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Austin Schmidt and Paul Smith.
Stephen treasured his time spent as an 82nd Airborne Paratrooper and Operation Iraqi Freedom Combat Veteran in the United States Army. He was proud of the work he did in the military and made some lifelong friends during his military service. At the time of his death, Stephen had a career in the oil field, which he had developed a strong passion for.
Stephen absolutely loved life and was so proud to be a member of his beloved family. Stephen was never prouder of anything than he was of his two daughters, Emma and Leah. When it came to his family, Stephen was the epitome of lead by example and has forever instilled in all of us a sense of belonging to something greater. Although his life was too short, we all feel eternally grateful to have had the privilege of belonging to Stephen. Stephen is no longer with us in the physical form, but his beautiful spirit will continue to live on in each of our hearts.
Stephen’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service at 10 a.m. on November 30, 2018. The service will be held at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ, 95 Brees Blvd, San Antonio, TX.
