When someone you love deeply leaves your life, you feel like a piece of your heart has gone with them. Hopefully, a memory of Susan will remain in your heart forever. At last her prayer has been answered and she has met her Lord and Savior. After a courageous battle with cancer fought with grace and courage, she is now with Christ and fully restored as He promised.
Susan Bartee was preceded in death by her parents Cita and Richard Bullock, her sister Karen, and brother Rick.
She is survived by her husband Jimmy Bartee. Children Janet Rodriguez (Rick), Jimmy Grant (Heather), Will Mangum, Shane Mangum, and Jennifer Deweerd (Dwayne). Grandchildren Matthew (Jeanette), Josh (Erin), Deidrae, Ashley, Shay, Kayla, and Lucian Cloud. Great-granddaughters Emily, Rachael, and Harley. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Susan spent much of her time hunting and fishing. She used to say she felt closest to God when she was in the mountains. That all changed when she met her BUMC church family. What a blessing it was for her to go on her Walk to Emmaus 1533. That journey led her to her Emmaus Sisters Jessie Killian, Dorothy McKechnie, Linda Jonas, June DeVolin, and Nona Lowery. With tremendous gratitude to these women, we appreciate them as Honorary Pallbearers.
Pallbearers are Will Mangum, Shane Mangum, Jimmy Grant, Matthew Grant, Josh Bartee, Rick Rodriguez, and Scott Markworth.
Susan's working years were a variety. She owned a horse stable and feed store, then a flower shop. Most recently, she worked in the auto glass business with Safelite. She loved working and was more than a little unhappy that cancer forced her into retirement.
Special thanks to Jane Monroe, RN, and everyone at Alamo Hospice, Boerne. Also, our tremendous thanks to Marisa Sandera, MD, and Guari Varadhachary, MD.
Visitation will be at Porter Loring North (1604/Gold Canyon) Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 5:00-8:30 P.M.
