

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Georgia Anna Pearl Reid, age 83, who passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2003.
Sydney Frank Reid was born on April 29, 1921 and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He joined the Army in 1939 and served for 30 years, retiring in 1969 as a Command Sergeant Major. His career in the Army brought him and his family to many parts of the world, including the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan, Washington, Illinois, California, and Texas.
After retiring from the Army, Sydney pursued a second career as a banker in San Francisco. Mr. and Mrs. Reid retired to San Antonio in 1986.
Georgia Anna Pearl Reid was born on February 8, 1920 in Silverton, Texas, and was raised in Pampa. She moved with her family to Gardena, California in 1940, where she later met Sydney at a USO dance.
They were married on July 31, 1942, and followed her husband around the world, raising 2 loving children. Anna also enjoyed a career in banking in San Francisco before retiring.
She was an avid gardener all of her life, taking special pride in her roses and amaryllis.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Reid were active in the community, and they made many close friends. They enjoyed Roadrunner camping trips in their RV, bowling with the National 600 Club, playing cards, entertaining friends, and spoiling the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Reid are survived by their son, Sydney William Reid of San Antonio; daughter, Marjorie Hackley of Redwood City, CA; grandchildren, Christine Vines, Sydney Donald Benjamin Reid, Gabriel Reid, and Adam Hackley; and 8 great grandchildren, Anya and Winston Vines, Joshua Sydney, Alexandra, and Benjamin James Reid, and Seth, Sara, and Samuel Hackley.
