This year, they were further blessed with their first granddaughter, Rian Rose, earning Sylvia the title of Grandma Turtle.
Sylvia had a deep love for travel, and her military service allowed her to fulfill her dreams of seeing the world. She lived in various states, including Hawaii, Maryland, Arizona, and Texas, as well as different countries such as Korea, which opened doors to explore other countries like China and Australia. Everywhere Sylvia went, she made it feel like home, collecting photographs and mementos along the way to preserve her cherished memories.
During her 20 years in the military, Sylvia served with distinction and was honorably retired with numerous accolades. She excelled in her military career, rising from Private to Major. She also pursued her education with a Bachelor of Science degree from Thomas Edison State College, and Master of Science degree from California State University at Dominguez Hills.
As a teenager Sylvia gave her life to Jesus Christ, and the love for her Savior never wavered. Wherever she went in the world, you can bet Sylvia would find a church. She was an active member at Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Sylvia's hands and mind were always filled with activity. She constantly created arts and crafts, explored new cooking skills, and even took up learning the piano in her last few months. She had a wonderful sense of humor and derived joy from living, loving, and bringing happiness to others.
Sylvia will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She nurtured many seeds of kindness and love which have also produced countless friends. Susan will forever be missed. She truly cared about others and sought ways to make others happy. “Let the party begin” as she would say, and may the joy bells of glory welcome her as she entered eternal rest.
