

Sylvia Christian passed away on February 16, 2016 at the age of 83 years old. She was born in Sundell, Michigan on June 7, 1932, the youngest child of parents William and Lempi Niemi, growing up on the family farm. After completing school, Sylvia moved to Chicago, IL gaining employment at American Can Company and met Robert Christian. They were later married on August 31, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas after both being transferred to TX. She later worked at USAA until her retirement in 1997. Sylvia was a long time member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and enjoyed the people there.
Things of interest for Sylvia were family, her friends, her several cats, travelling to see bright lights, and watching the San Antonio Spurs on TV, among other things. She knew how to be a friend to her friends and neighbors and knew how to laugh.
Sylvia is survived by husband, Robert Christian; daughter Paula Bading and her husband Damien; son, Darren Christian; grandchildren, Robert Nealy, Jennifer Nealy, and Christopher and Alexis Nealy; great grandchildren, Jordan Gammage, Madison Breeden, Draven Nealy, Axl Nealy, CJ Surber; sister Rachel Reynard, cousin Ethel Holmquist; friends Karl and Avis Mittwede; brother in law Gordon Alexander and wife Juanita, brother in law Carroll McBride; sister in law Marguerite Cook; loving neighbor Ruth Rand and many others, including several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218, on Monday, February 22, 2016 with viewing from 11:00 am-12:00 pm, Funeral Service at 12:00 pm, interment following immediately thereafter at Sunset Memorial Park.
