

Sylvia Ann Luna, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, entered into eternal rest on September 26, 2025, surrounded by love and cherished memories. Born on January 28, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, Sylvia was the daughter of Antonio Luna and Oralia Maldonado, and the stepdaughter of Guillermo Giddens.
In her early years, Sylvia pursued a passion for storytelling and truth as a newspaper reporter, working with distinction for the San Antonio Light and Express-News publications. She had a keen eye for detail and a deep love for her community, which shone through in every story she wrote.
Sylvia found her greatest joy in family. She treasured every moment spent with her daughter, grandchildren, and loved ones. Whether attending her grandkids' sports events, shopping for something special, watching the Dallas Cowboys or golf, or simply sharing heartfelt conversations, Sylvia brought joy, warmth, and laughter to every gathering. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people and make lasting friendships wherever she went.
Sylvia is now reunited in heaven with her ex-husband, Jose Orlando Luna; her parents, Oralia M. Giddens and Antonio Luna; her stepfather, Guillermo Giddens; and her sister, Olga Luna Lopez.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in the hearts of her family: Her devoted daughter, Sylvia Luna, and son-in-law, Raul Zuniga; Her grandchildren: Ryan Christian Luna, Aiden Orlando Villa and Girlfriend Sarina Gomez, Raul Joaquin Zuniga, and Leah Elizabeth Villa; Her brother, Antonio Luna, and sister-in-law, Frances Luna; Her sister, Rita Giddens and brother-in-law; Mando; Her nephews: Mando, Fernando, Michael, and Gabriel Lopez ( Gabriel, Gavin, Gage and Ace Lopez )
Sylvia’s light, laughter, and love will forever live on in the lives of those she touched. Her memory will be a source of strength and inspiration for all who were blessed to know her.
A Memorial Visitation for Sylvia will be Thursday October 9, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home; 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio Texas 78237 with a Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Service will conclude in the chapel.
